Date Night

During our combined meeting on Sunday the bishop spoke about emergency preparedness. Somewhere in there he talked about how continuing the courtship is really important and that you should still be going on dates weekly. Even if you have kids or don't have money, you should find a way. Well, something must have hit home with Josh because on Sunday night he wrote up on the calendar a date night for Thursday (today). I didn't complain :) We are together so much that I think we take for granted actually going on "dates" and just count all the times we eat out and go out together as dates.

So when Josh got back from school he had these in his hand...

Beautiful, right? I love flowers so much and he surprised with this really pretty bouquet. He said there were lots of fall flowers in but he really liked these summery ones. And I do too!

So for our date, we dressed up and made fun plans to go out. Originally the plans were to do dinner and a dollar movie but then we found out that the first Gamecock game was tonight. So we found a great place to eat that was showing the game.

Iggys is one of our favorite places to eat. It's got almost every kind of food, the service is great and it has a super fun atmosphere (especially during football season). So since Utah also had a game tonight we had to watch the Gamecocks on the small TV but it was still fun. We were at the restaurant for such a long time. There was cheering and clapping and screaming the whole night :) It was really fun and we got to watch almost the entire game.

I ordered the Cabo Wabo Salad. It's a mexican(ish) style salad that comes in a tortilla bowl with peppers, avacados, pinto beans, pepperjack cheese, etc. Josh ordered the Western burger which has fried breading strips, bacon and BBQ sauce. Delicious. I actually really enjoyed dinner because we just ate really slow so we could enjoy the game. And then after our meals we ordered the Chocolate Lava Souffle. And just for the heck of it, I'm going to give you the description. I just want to make your mouth water...warm chocolate cake wrapped souffle-style around a molten center of chocolate ganache, served with vanilla bean ice cream. Oh heavens, it was good. And can I also just add that the ice cream was in a fried tortilla dusted with cinnamon sugar and there were piles of whipped cream with raspberries on the plate as well. So...yeah, delicious.

After dinner we came home and unfortunately both had homework. What a romantic ending to the date. Haha. But we did both lay in bed together as we read/studied :)

It was a great night! Can I just say how much I love my husband? Well, I do. A lot.

On a side note...here's a funny picture.

Whenever I go to bed before Josh (which is often since he's an insomniac) I ask him to tuck me in. I think he took it a little too literal last night. I was like a giant cocoon. (If you're wondering why our bed has a pink blanket...it's because we left our comforter in SC on accident) Oops!
