Piper Gray at F I V E months

Sweet and adorable Piper Gray is already five months old! Today was a big day in our house! We celebrated two birthdays. Elliott's half birthday (since it should fall on Feb. 30 which doesn't exist) and Piper's five month birthday! My girls are growing up!

At five months Piper . . .

  • started eating solid foods and absolutely loves it. She opens her mouth for the spoon, makes a grossed out face then gobbles it down! She hardly spits any food out.
  • gets up on her knees while on her stomach and tries to scoot but doesn't actually move at all
  • pushes up onto her hands while on her stomach
  • is very interested in toys and objects
  • grabs just about anything in front of her
  • continues to adore her sister and will sit forever just watching Elliott play
  • loves to play on the ground on her play mat and just observe what's going on around her
  • loves to eat. Even with solids she still insists on eating every few hours
  • sleeps like an dream baby. **Disclaimer**  If you're a mom and your baby doesn't sleep well, just don't read this. Sorry! Piper sleeps 12-13 hours straight each night, wakes up, eats and then sleeps for an hour or two more. Like I said, dream baby.
  • is happy and smiling most of the day. And occasionally we get a chuckle out of her, but they're far and few between.
We love you Piper!

Pay close attention to the progression of the next few...

Haha. Love her.

LOVE that smile

Drool!

Pushing up on those hands!

Elliott is T W O and a H A L F

When did this happen? When did my sweet, giggly baby turn into a sassy, beautiful toddler? Even just six months ago, she seemed little. Now she seems so grown up.

These past 6 months have been a doozy. Since her birthday, she has discovered a strength within herself. A determination to go against my will and be her own self. It's part of this stage of life, but gosh darn it, it's difficult. But I am so thankful for her spunky attitude, and we are learning together how to best manage it.

At two and a half Elliott . . .
  • can recite her ABC's
  • recognizes all 26 of the letters
  • can count to 14
  • recognizes numbers 0-10
  • loves to sing songs
  • can throw one heck of a tantrum
  • adores being an older sister. She especially likes bringing Piper toys and pushing her around in her baby stroller
  • loves reading books (as always) and will now recite a few of her favorites on her own
  • loves climbing and jumping all over everything in our house
  • loves pizza and any type of juice
  • eats a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch every. single. day. (her request)
  • talks non-stop and has started picking up on a lot of our common phrases (some of my favorites include: oh my goodness, oh shoot, oopsie daisies, good choice and holy cow)
  • loves her daddy. Her favorite game involves jumping all over him while he lies on the floor
  • loves Daniel Tiger and one of her favorite toys is her trolley with Daniel, O the Owl, Katerina Kittycat and Miss Elaina (who Elliott calls Toots)
  • pretend plays all the time (we often hear her playing pretend mommy and daddy, going to the doctor, shopping, playing out random phone conversations and playing at the park)
I've decided to start doing an interview with Elliott every six months. I want to use the same questions each time and see how they change over time. So here is her first interview.

February 2 0 1 5 Wrap up

We finally bought Elliott a pillow for her crib. Pillowcases are lame and expensive so we went to JoAnns and bought some adorable fabric and quickly sewed a couple pillowcases for it!

Elliott picked both the fabrics herself. So cute!

Fast asleep with her pillow!

Piper's first time eating solids! We started with peas. She did surprisingly well. I think I forced solids on Elliott too early because it took forever for her to figure out how to swallow, but Piper ate that whole pile without spitting out hardly any. Go Piper!

Elliott loved helping!

For Valentine's Day, Josh and I didn't get each other gifts. Instead, we bought a mattress topper for our bed! Glorious I tell you. Elliott likes it too.

She flopped around on it all morning while it unfolded and aired out.

Cute girls! Piper is getting better at sitting up!

Piper knows how to get comfy!

Waking up to this sweet face looking at me is the best!

Time to get the cast off! Hooray!

The ankle.

And the calf.

And it's back to work!

Bye!

Barely fits!

Trying to feed her solids tonight and I couldn't get that thumb out of her mouth!

Elliott's poor bottom teeth are so crowded and crooked. Broccoli is the worst. Haha. So much food in those teeth!
