House Updates

The house is coming along. Man, house projects are exhausting and take so much longer than you think they are going to. Since moving in, we've been tackling a million things. Our biggest projects were painting the entire house including trim and baseboards and then painting the kitchen cabinets. I'm really not a fan of the oak look in the kitchen, so we made plans to do a two-tone kitchen with gray cabinets on the bottom and white on the top. I felt like we over planned for how long it would take, but it still took much, much longer.

Let's do this!
Sanding party.
Josh decided to trim out the cabinet boxes to add to their look. I thought he was crazy adding more work to our load, but I am so thankful now that he did because they look so much nicer!
The doors are what took us the longest! Those things were a beast to paint and sand.
What a difference!
Obsessed! Seriously, I love our kitchen so much.
A little re-upholstery job with the benches my dad gave us with our farm table.
New family room sectional, rug, entertainment center and curtains!
All framed out!
Shoe organization from IKEA.

Things are certainly coming along!

Elliott's first haircut

When we got to SC, I decided it was finally time to chop Elliott's hair off. It still so fine and wispy and while it had gotten really long, it just was a mess. It was always tangled and in her face. So I watched some YouTube videos, got out my scissors and did it! I think it turned out pretty cute. She wasn't scared at all, in fact, she got annoyed with me pretty quick and just wanted to be done. What else should I expect from a three year old? But it looks adorable and it is already so much more manageable!

It was so long!

Hooray! We cut off about 9 inches!

Elliott's first solids

While we were in South Carolina, we thought it would be fun to pick up some baby food and let Elliott try it. I don't intend on starting her on solids quite yet, but we thought it would be fun to see her reaction. We chose squash. Not too sweet and not too...not sweet. Haha. She didn't seem to particularly enjoy it, but she didn't hate it! She was so cute.

Elliott's first Christmas

Oh boy do I have a lot to blog about. Our trip to South Carolina was amazing! There were a few bumps along the way, but you'll read about that soon. First, I'll back all the way up to Christmas Eve.

Since we flew out of SLC on Christmas day we did our own little Christmas on Christmas Even night. Josh and I both worked that day. I got off work before he did and ran around finishing things up before we left the next day. I cleaned, packed, went to the store, etc. Josh got off a few hours later and we spent some family time together opening gifts. Since we spent so much money on plane tickets for SC we only did stockings for each other this year. Josh and I don't really care about gifts for each other, it was more fun shopping for Elliott. We did a stocking for her as well and then one small gift. She's still so little that there weren't really any fun toys I wanted to get her this year.

Adorable sweater that Grandma knitted for her!

Her one toy from us. Squishy blocks!

Our beautiful book from my sister!

Everything goes straight for the mouth.

Overload!

Stay tuned! Lots, lots more to come!
