27 Years Young!

My adorable husband turned 27 last week! A lot like my birthday, it was a celebration that dragged on for days.

Josh had to work on his actual birthday but he got off work a couple hours early so he could hang out with me and open his gifts. He got...

-an ipod shuffle
-moccasin slippers
-a deep fryer
-a case of mountain dew
-peanut butter m&ms
-an itunes gift card (from my mom)
-mythbusters bobble heads (from my dad)
-3 NBC show shirts
-this book (from Kendal)

He was very spoiled this year.

one of the shirts he got (you may notice though that this is a picture of me. i bought myself one as well. i liked it that much)

Another NBC shirt

On Friday night we went to Texas Roadhouse with all of Josh's friends. If you haven't been there when they've done a birthday, it's quite the show. They yell at the whole restaurant your name and that it's your birthday and everyone there shouts Yeeeee-Haaaaw at you. Well, Josh was holding Jane when it happened, and as you can tell, it scared her...just a bit.

I don't blame her. It was really loud.

Josh is at work but once I get my hands on his camera I'll add more pictures. :)

Happy birthday to the best man/husband/friend to walk the earth! I love you joshie! Thanks for being my one and only!

Happy Halloween!!

Well, it's that time of year again. I'm actually in shock that Halloween has come and gone and that Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner. Yikes! Where has this year gone?!

But, Halloween was a ton of fun this year. Josh and I didn't dress up last year or the year before, so we decided that we needed to do some making up. One of our favorite television shows is called Community. It runs during the Thursday night line-up on NBC. It's currently in it's 3rd season. We love it so much. Well, we decided to be two of the characters from that show.

Meet...Troy and Abed.
[Abed is on the left, Troy is on the right]

They are so hilarious and we thought, why the heck not? We went to the local halloween store for make-up and wigs, I made the mugs, we dressed like them and even got little mics.

Ta Da!

[Not bad, right?]

We memorized lines, and tried to be in character as much as possible. We didn't do that well, but it was fun to try. Somewhere floating around is a video of us dancing. I haven't seen it, but I bet it's great. If i get my hands on it, and it's not horrific, I'll post it.

On Saturday night we went to Morgan and Jenn's Halloween party at their house. We ate so much delicious food, had  a YouTube contest, watched the Walking Dead and even had a little mini dance party.

[so cute! and a good shot of some of the decorations]

The next day we went back over to Morgan and Jenn's to carve our pumpkins. It was so fun. And little Jane girl was awake at the beginning so we were especially happy. Josh is a great uncle.

[so cute]

Our pumpkins turned out adorable if I do say so myself. I wish you could see mine better. I made the slits so thin that not much light shines through. But it's cute, just trust me.

and since I couldn't be Abed today at my school, I was a ballerina.

Happy Halloween everyone!!!

Some more Goodbyes

I realize I just wrote a post about saying goodbye to the kids.. But I forgot a couple of things.

First off, here are couple snapshots of the little treats I put together for the kids. I got the idea online. Super cute, and the kids loved it.

Pretty cute, right?

Here are pictures of our classes final project. For the end of my numeracy unit we made a counting book to keep in our library.

As the kids finished their pages I recorded them saying what they drew and made a digital storybook for each class. It was posted on the blog for the parent's to see and I had it running during centers so the kids could watch it. I think they turned out adorable! Please watch at least one. They're only about a minute long. Totally worth it!

Also, another final goodbye to my classroom.

Halloween Mantel

Using some fabulous ideas from Pinterest, I spruced up my mantel. I think it looks fabulously cute.

Tell me these candy corns are not the cutest thing you've ever seen! They are so easy. Just a styrofoam cone wrapped in yarn!

I also made that yarn ball garland. Also very easy and so cute!

Last Day

Last week I had my last day with my kids! It was so sad! I taught in the BYU preschool for 7 weeks. You get attached to people in 7 weeks! I had to hold back from tearing up a few times.

Incident 1: When one of the cutest little boys does a huge frown when I say it's my last day

Incident 2: When a little girls runs in on Tuesday and the first thing she does is give me a giant hug and say she'll miss me.

Incident 3: When a little girl comes in with a note that says, "Thank You!" She gives me a huge hug, gives me the note and then her mom takes a picture of us together.

Seriously, they are the sweetest kids in the world. I am going back to visit as soon as I'm done this block!

Here are pictures from my last day!

Cabin Time Again!

It's that time again...cabin time! When I told people we were going to Valerie's cabin, I heard a lot of, "again?" Yes! Of course! We love it. We love it enough to go three times a year. :)

This year was especially fun. There were four couples. Me and Josh, Jacob and Valerie, Morgan, Jenn and Jane, and Kelly (Jacob's sister and my friend from childhood) and Perry. We stayed from Friday to Sunday which was sad. I could have stayed another day for sure. But we made the best of it. We left Friday afternoon as soon as everyone was out of school/work. We got up to the cabin around 7 just in time for dinner. Every meal we had up there was delicious. We all took turns cooking. Yum. We spent a lot of the weekend playing with adorable Jane, riding the four wheelers and playing in the dark.

On Saturday we went down the dust bowl to ride the four wheelers. We brought blankets and games and played games while people took turns driving around. It was a lot of fun. We headed back to the cabin after a few hours to eat a late lunch. Then we hung out, played games and ate dinner. After dinner some people stayed at the cabin and the rest of us went out to play man hunt. In case you're unfamiliar with the game, it's where you try to get from one point to another without getting caught. So the first round Josh was on the four wheeler and we had to get from the cabin to a bridge about a half a mile down the road. It wasn't too hard since the four wheeler was loud. It was impossible for him to sneak up on us. So me and Morgan made it! The second round Morgan was it but he was on foot so it was a lot harder. Josh and I stuck together and we literally army crawled through the forest on our bellies. I was covered in stickers and tree branches when we got down. It was so fun though. And Josh and I made it! Just barely, but we did!

We played some more games and then headed to bed. Sunday we got up, ate breakfast, the boys went out and rode the four wheelers and then we ate lunch, cleaned up and packed and headed out. It was such a fun trip!

Josh wore this mustache while he was out riding. Well, it kind of melted to his face. Isn't that gross!!

And isn't she adorable!?
