Piper Gray at 8 Months

8 months old. I say it every month, but what the heck Piper?! Seriously? 3/4 of a year old? Okay. Rant over. This girl is to die for. Seriously, everyone that spends time around her falls in love with her. She is always happy, always has her tongue out and couldn't be more of a joy to be around.

At 8 months Piper:
  • always has her tongue sticking out. So much, in fact, that her tongue is often completely dry.
  • can pull up on things. But since she isn't crawling, I have to place her right in front of something for her to do it. But she's got strong little arms, pulling up all that weight.
  • still only rolls from back to front and refuses to roll back. Little stinker.
  • Can scoot around in a circle on her stomach. I really have yet to see her do it completely, but I know she can, because she is always turned around in her crib when I go to get her up.
  • is now sleeping in a crib! This month, we finally upgraded her from the bassinet to the crib. She is much happier. She loved that little bassinet, but let's be honest, she had long outgrown it. I think all that extra space will get her moving around sooner too.
  • loves to babble. Still says baba, mama, and dada.
  • can click her tongue on the roof of her mouth.
  • learned to shake her head back and forth like she is saying "no".
  • claps all the time. So adorable.
  • loves eating solids. And will eat absolutely anything. She'll make faces, but she will pretty much eat whatever I give her.
  • sleeps 12-14 hours each night through and takes two 2-3 hour naps during the day.
  • weights a whopping 20lbs13oz.
  • does step over step now when we hold her hands.
We love you Piper Gray!
(Also, pretty sure I don't need to point this out, but check out her tongue...)

Wait, where did it go?

Oh, it's back.

Such a happy girl!

Mother's Day '15

Mother's Day was wonderful as usual. It was my first mother's day with 2 sweet girls. Josh was wonderful and made sure I felt taken care of. He made me breakfast in the morning and of course, I got to pick my favorite dinner. This year it was navajo tacos. Wait, it might have been that last year too. Haha. I do like tacos.

Josh had been up super late the night before at work, so after getting up with the girls and making breakfast, he went back to sleep. I know I've mentioned before, but he seriously works too much. So Elliott and I had some fun while Piper napped that morning. While I was getting ready Elliott asked if she could wear some makeup. Usually I pretend or tell her she's too young, but I thought, what the heck. I did it all. Foundation, blush, eye shadow, eye liner, mascara and red lipstick! Never again! haha. She looked way too old. It was a little too toddlers and tiaras for me. :) But she loved being like mommy.

Out of the Mouth of Elliott #5

(Current favorite picture of elliott! Hahaha)

I think we are way overdue for another "Out of the mouth of Elliott."

So here it is!

Every morning. "Piper! My big hug you??"

One week after being sick, upon waking up. "Mommy, I have a fever. Mommy, I no have fever! My fever broke!"

Elliott started using "I just" all the time. And it's her way of excusing bad behavior. "I just...choking her, crashing my stroller into mommys feet, punching you", etc.

She has also started using so and but. "So, . . . But, . . ."

After Piper accomplished some small task like sitting up or pooping on the potty. "I'm so proud of you Piper!"

While I was going to the bathroom,  Elliott walks in and says, "I just checking on you."

This was one of the funniest moments. She knows she's not allowed to climb on the back of the couch and when I saw her up there, I kindly reminded her why she shouldn't climb up there. Because she'll fall. Then she says, "I not fall, I not fall"....the I hear a thump and crying..."I fall!!"

Elliott has picked up on the times I use the dictation on my phone to text. I heard her one day playing on my phone, pressing the button and saying, "Happy birthday my family period." I just about died!!! I say period to add punctuation and she notices!

Referring to a pile of books on the floor. "These ones? These are like really fun books."

Me: Pipers toes need to be clipped really bad. "Ohhh, that really stinks!"

Hugging our new vacuum
"...it's so, so...fluffy!"

"I can't...I just driving, I really, really sad." Any excuse to do what she wants.

To Josh in the morning. "Your hair is crazy! You need a comb!"

Me, while driving: The light is green! What does green mean?
E: "Green bean!"

Driving on the highway and seeing a baby on a billboard. "That baby climb up the wall!"

When singing Jesus Wants Me For A Sunbeam.
"Jesus wants me for a sun...BEEP!"

There you have it!

Piper Gray at 7 Months

Our sweet and mellow Piper is 7 months old! This post is a few days late because of a nasty stomach bug that kept me down for a couple days. Yuck. But we survived, and *knock on wood* I'm the only one that caught it.

Regardless, Piper is 7 months!

At 7 months, Piper Gray:

  • is babbling all the time. She says, "dada, mama, baba" and "gaga"
  • has moved from tripod sitting to normal sitting! Elliott loves it because she's much easier to interact with. And Piper loves it to! More to see!
  • is teething like crazy! If anything gets within about 6 inches of her, she grabs it and vigorously rubs it on her gums. Bless her. No signs of teeth yet, but I'm sure soon.
  • loves "If you're happy and you know it". And is starting to mimic hand claps.
  • raises her hands in the air.
  • weighs just under 20 lbs (90th percentile) and is 65th percentile for height.
  • still loves Elliott the most. Elliott definitely gets the most smiles and laughs.
  • laughs constantly and almost always has a smile on her face.
  • sleeps from 7pm-7am and naps twice a day for 2-3 hours each.
  • eats just about anything we give her. We just feed her whatever we're eating and she loves it.
We love you Piper! Happy 7 months!
