Visit from Jamie

My sister texted me a couple weeks ago asking what our Memorial Weekend plans were. We didn't have any plans and they didn't either so she asked if we wanted visitors! Uh, of course! We hadn't had any official guests stay at our house at this point, so we were so excited! We had a great weekend. 

They got into town late Thursday night. We stayed up talking for a bit and then headed to bed. 

On Friday, we took it pretty easy. Josh had to work so we drove around and I showed them our little city. Then we stopped at Ice Cream Station for some yummy ice cream. When Josh got home, we had yummy navajo tacos and then headed out to our little city fair. It was a good time. It's cheap to get in and they do tons of free events that are usually pretty silly, but still entertaining! We saw the pig races, some high divers, a high wire group and a karate/ninja show too. We had a great time. Elliott got to go on a couple rides, which she was thrilled about and I think we all had a lot of fun!

On Saturday, we decided to take them downtown. We ate lunch at the house and relaxed a bit, then headed downtown after we ate. We walked through Falls Park a bit and then walked up Main Street and hit up the Mast General store and the toy store. After downtown, we headed home to cool off a bit and then went to Bellacino's for some pizza for dinner! 

On Sunday, we had a low key morning and then headed to church. Taylor felt sick during sacrament and went home right after. Poor girl spent the rest of the day throwing up every hour or so. She was miserable. So we had a relaxing afternoon/evening. We ate dinner, talked, kept Taylor company and the boys went and looked at a couple of Josh's houses here in Simpsonville. 

They took off Monday morning so they could get back to recoup before work/school the next day! It was a quick weekend but we were so excited to have them and we had a great time. And I'll be heading up to visit them in just a week and a half, so it wasn't a hard goodbye! 

Of course I hardly took any pictures! Grrr..

Charleston Weekend

I mentioned to Josh a while back that I wanted to make sure we made it to the beach sometime this summer before the baby was born. I knew we wouldn't make it after she was born and I didn't want to wait too long and go when I was uncomfortable, the beaches were full and it was too hot. We decided to go ahead and start planning a trip right away. I did some coordinating with Jenn (because we wanted them to come too) and we found a weekend just a couple weeks out that would work! We decided to stay in Charleston and to stay two nights to get the most of our weekend! I'm so glad we did. It still went way too fast, but we had such a good time. 

We drove to Charleston on Saturday right after lunch. We got to the hotel about 4pm. We checked in, met up with Laurie (she happened to be in Charleston that day since Bronson was on a motorcycle trip), got Morgan and Jenn unloaded and then headed to Jim n' Nicks BBQ for dinner. We love that place! Morgan and Jenn actually found it when we were on our cruise last year and we go every time we are in Charleston now. It's so good! After dinner, Laurie said goodbye and headed home and we headed back to the hotel for some swimming at the pool. That night we played games and got to bed way too late! 

On Sunday, we spent the whole day at the beach! We ate breakfast at the hotel, packed our beach stuff and some lunches and hit the road to Sullivan's Island. We picked Sullivan's in hopes it would be less crowded. We were right! It was perfect. Not many people, free parking and close to the beach. Our beach day was absolutely perfect! We relaxed, the kids were perfect, nobody complained, the weather was gorgeous and overall it was exactly what I had hoped for! We headed back to the hotel around 3:30 so we could get an early dinner, bathe the kids and then head downtown to Waterfront park. We walked around and enjoyed the ocean breeze. Such a beautiful night! When we got back that night, we put the kids to bed and played games, again!

On Monday, we packed up the cars and then headed downtown. We did a quick stroll through the market and then grabbed some pralines (a must for me!) before heading to Angel Oak to see the tree and enjoy some lunch! We walked around the tree, which was absolutely breath taking, and then ate some lunch at the picnic tables there. After lunch, we said our goodbyes and headed home! 

It was such a fantastic weekend and I wish it could have been longer, but it was perfect and just what I wanted! 

Gymnastics

I was scanning Groupon one day and found a Groupon for a local gym that offers gymnastics for all ages. It was only $22 for four weeks so I signed Elliott up! She's been wanting to try it for some time, so I thought it would be a good way to get her feet wet with it. Turns out she loves it! She just finished the season and ended up doing 6 weeks!

The first week, they placed her based off her age and she was in the preschool group. But after her first class, the teacher said to talk to the front desk and have her moved up 2 classes. She was way above the other kids in her class. The next week was much more fun for her and from then on, she got to be out on the big floor doing all the stuff the older kids were doing. She loved it.

Mother's Day '17

Another wonderful Mother's Day has come and gone. I sure do love this holiday! Josh got up with the girls so I could sleep in, which I did! Sometimes I can't sleep in when the kids are up with Josh, but I definitely did! Then I got surprised with breakfast in bed. Yum! 

Elliott surprised me by writing me a note, completely on her own! Josh got me beautiful flowers, chocolate, and some amazing smelling bath bombs! Church was great and after church, Josh made me Cafe Rio for dinner! Seriously, that's love. After dinner, Josh put the kids to bed while I took a bath and enjoyed my new bath bombs...and a lot of my chocolate too. Haha. Overall, it was a great day and I felt very loved!
