Donuts

One day this week we decided to make an impromptu run to Krispy Kreme for donuts. That night I found out the next day was National Donut Day. So, the next morning we met Josh there and had donuts two days in a row. Not a bad two days if you ask me!

Simpsonville Fair

Morgan and Jenn live in Simpsonville, SC and their town had a fair in May! I was expecting something fairly small, but it was huge and it had a ton of free stuff that you could do. We saw some exotic animals, a freak show, watched pig races, saw a sea lion show, saw Lady Houdini escape the water tank and even saw a man get shot out of a canon! It was such a fun afternoon! And the fair was practically empty, so it wasn't crowded or stressful for us or the kids. We loved it. We even let the kids go on a couple rides before we headed out and grabbed dinner. We can't wait to live closer to them!

EdVenture and Snow Cones

For Memorial day, Josh took the day off from working for his parents and we took the kids to EdVenture. It's the children's museum here. Neither of us had ever been and it was awesome! We had a couple guest passes which made it even better! Can't beat free. 

The girls had such a blast running around trying all kinds of fun stuff.

Later that day I took the girls to get snow cones at Pelican's! They were so yummy. I got coconut passionfruit and it might have been the most delicious combination ever. 

Piggies and Sprinklers

One day a couple weeks ago, the weather was HOT! So we decided to pull out the sprinkler, put on bathing suits and get wet! The girls loved it! It was a fun afternoon. Also, Piper had crazy pigtails that day that just made me giggle every time I looked at her. Hence all the pictures...

Babysitting

Last week, Jenn's friend Shantel was sealed to her husband and so Jenn came to Columbia for it. Her parents weren't able to watch the kids, so I watched them! We had a great time. They came over Friday night for a few hours. We ate dinner, watched a movie (with popcorn) and successfully got them all to bed! On Saturday they came back over for a few hours during the day. Papa Max and Grandma Gwen brought lunch from Chick-fil-A and we sat outside eating. Then the kids played outside the entire time! It was wonderful. The weather was perfect and the kids had a blast. We love those cousins!

Ice Cream Date

Josh and I are trying really hard to do individual dates with Elliott more. She's your typical three year old and really needs a lot of attention. And when Piper is around, I know she just doesn't get as much as she needs. So the other day, I surprised her and took her out for ice cream. After ice cream we walked over to Target and I let her pick something out of the dollar section. It was a fun little date. She is growing up so quick. 

Chicks

Morgan and Jenn bought six baby chicks for Easter to have for fun and then passed them onto us once they got too big for them. Now we have 9 chickens in the backyard. They've grown quite a bit now but they were so stinking cute when they were little. And the girls love them. Piper would wake up every morning and come downstairs saying, "hi chickens, hi chickens!" It was adorable. They play with them constantly and are always checking on them and feeding them. 

One day we took the golf cart to the park for a playdate and decided to grab a couple of chicks and bring them with us. We stuck them in a box and they tagged along. Turns out the park was a bit busy that afternoon and at one point I counted 17 kids around me, playing with the chicks. It was nuts. There were probably between 15 and 25 kids with us the whole time. Eventually I put the chicks in the box and made all the kids go away because it was a bit overwhelming. Haha. It was a lot of fun though and all the kids loved it.

Conference Weekend

Conference weekend is always so wonderful, but this one was extra special for me this year. Josh has had a job that requires him to work weekends for the last 6 years. This was the first year I remember both of us getting to sit together as a family for all four sessions. I loved every second of it. I love our family! 

On Sunday morning, I came up with (stole from a friend on FB) this great idea to have a picture of each apostle and a correlating snack or activity. The girls were playing nicely upstairs while I prepared their lunches and activity. It was so peaceful, and I was so excited. Turns out they weren't upstairs playing nicely. They found my extra fine Martha Stewart glitter and dumped out all twelve bottles. I wanted to die. Not only is that stuff expensive, it was nearly impossible to clean! Piper still has glitter on her scalp 4 weeks later. No joke. That stuff is ridiculous. But the day turned out great regardless. And plus, now we can laugh about it. :)
