South Carolina

Josh and I arrived in South Carolina on Wednesday last week. Let's just say, we are loving it! Right now I am sitting on his couch in the family room in front of a big fire while his mom Laurie is cooking grits for us! I love South Carolina.

Here's a little break down of the trip so far! I'm not gonna put up any pictures yet but I will when I get a chance. Well, maybe I'll do a few...we'll see how I feel when I finish this. :)

We were very blessed to make it all the way across the country safe and sound without any delays. Most people traveling right now are spending nights in airports and dealing with a number of delays and cancellations. A plane crashed on takeoff yesterday too. Anyhow, we made it safe! Phew. It was a long day but we got into Raleigh and rented our car. We had to upgrade to a Toyota Highlander (large SUV) because we had 6 large suitcases. (We traveled with Josh's sister Kendal as well, it wasn't just us!) We stopped at a Waffle House or WaHo like Josh likes to call it on the way to Columbia and rolled in around 9pm. We hung out with family that night and then Thursday we spent at the church helping set up for Josh's brother Morgan's reception. On Friday Morgan got married in the Columbia Temple. It was a great day. Josh and I were blessed to be able to attend the sealing and be part of that great moment and then we headed outside to take pictures. Morgan asked me to take pictures that day as a little side photographer and just take some fun candid pictures. I was really excited for this opportunity because I've never had the chance to shoot a wedding. I realized how difficult it is and how much time ti takes. By the time for the reception I was ready to just sit and not take anymore. :\ But I really enjoyed doing it! I think I got quite a few good shots. I will do some editing and put some on my photoblog, so look for that update coming soon. The wedding and reception were beautiful. It was a great night. After the reception we helped with the clean up and hit the sack as soon as we got home because we were exhausted.

Saturday morning was non-existent. We slept in until 2pm. :) We obviously needed it. Or...something. But yes. Josh and I went to a party at Murray Lake at one of his friends lake house. It was an awesome place. Josh took me to the ghetto and showed me his old house. It wasn't THAT ghetto..:)

Today has been a good day of relaxing. I took a good 2 and a half hour nap and we watched ELF. I met a lot of people at church this morning. I'm loving this place! Anyways, it's dinner time and we're having eggs, bacon, toast and grits. :) More updates to come soon!

Here's just a cute picture from Morgan's wedding!

Trip To SLC

On Saturday Josh and I drove up to Salt Lake to celebrate the one year mark since our first kiss. The actual date was November 30th but we were just getting back from Washington and couldn't even think about being in a car any longer. So we did it the following weekend instead.

Two weeks after Josh and I had met and had been hanging out he and Devin asked me and Kelly out on a date. They wanted to take us to Salt Lake to go to dinner and see the lights at temple square. We went to this really nice greek/indian restaurant in downtown salt lake and then walked to temple square to see the lights. Unfortunately, we missed the memo that the lights turn off at 10 and we only caught about 15 minutes of them. So we decided to head back to the car when I spotted some more lit trees up a couple flights of stairs. I wandered up and we found a cute little ice skating rink. While Devin and Kelly jumped the railing onto the rink I dragged Josh under the pavilion where I could hear Christmas music playing from the loudspeaker. We stood there for a minute then Josh said, "Look." I looked around, not quite sure what he was talking about when I noticed some snow next to a tree about 10 feet away. When I turned back to Josh he was leaning in, and bam, we kissed. (Josh knew that I wanted my first kiss to be when it was snowing, hence the weird, "look" comment towards the snow pile)

So on Saturday we headed up to SLC and searched for our little restaurant. To our dismay, it closed down! So we wandered up and down the streets until we found something else that sounded good. We found another little Indian restaurant called the Himalayan Kitchen just a few blocks south, so we ate there. After we ate we walked to temple square and saw the lights. It's amazing how much work must go into that project every year! The trees are covered! Every branch! After that we headed to the ice skating rink. We watched people skate and even considered skating but we were already so cold from walking around that we decided to just snap a picture and head home. We stood under the same pavilion where it happened one year ago and bam, we kissed. :)

It was a great day. We had a lot of fun thinking about how this whole thing got started! Here are some pictures from our little trip!

Reenactment of the first kiss!

A manger display on the water. Really pretty.

Of course we took jumping pictures!

Our Christmas thus far

Well, Josh and I don't have a lot of decorations but we did get a little tree up! It's only 3 feet tall but we love it. Here's a couple pictures of us decorating it and a video of plugging the lights in! :) We love Christmas!

Thanksgiving Pictures!

Well, I decided to finally hang up the big pile of clothes sitting on the desk and low and behold, my cord was underneath all the clothes. I'm sure my family is thinking, "wow, nothing has changed!" :) Well, at least I found it.

So here are some fun pictures from our trip to Washington!

As you can tell, it was a fun weekend! We were so grateful for the clear roads and hospitable family that put us up! :)

Happy Holidays!

Josh and I are getting really excited for Christmas. As most of you probably know, we're headed to South Carolina for 3 weeks for our second wedding reception. We will also be attending Josh's brother, Morgan's wedding and we'll be spending New Years on the beach! We're getting very excited. I revamped the blog with some Happy Holiday spirit. :)

We spent Thanksgiving with my family in Washington. It was a really fun trip. Josh's sister Kendal got to come with us too and we really enjoyed ourselves. Unfortunately, Josh was sick our last day of the trip with some kind of stomach bug, but he survived the 12 hour drive home the next day, which we were very grateful for!

When we got back we took a trip to Walmart and picked up a little tree. It's 3 feet tall and we decorated it with red and green bulbs and white lights. We also bought a pretty wreath for our door. We took pictures but I can't find my usb cord that hooks up to my camera, so I'm stuck without them for now. As soon as the cord shows up I will get those pictures on here! :)

Merry Christmas!

Danna and I Made Dessert From Heaven

We found out this week that Danna and I can make some good desserts.

I can't remember the name of this particular dish, but it contains baked apples, cinnamon and sugar, raspberry jam, toasted walnuts, and pastry with a pound of butter in it. It was so good.

We made it for our little dinner with Jacob and Valerie this past Tuesday night. Jacob and Valerie made us deer steaks (they were delicious) and we made the apple dessert things. It was a fun, little dinner.

Here are what the dessert looked like:

Gas is Under $2!

I bought gas last week under $2 and it felt amazing. It has been a long time since I felt comfortable with the gas prices. Just under $2 sounds great to me. This week the gas prices have dropped even more. I saw gas under $1.90 yesterday. The Middle East must be either celebrating the departure of Bush or the beginning of Obama.

Ambien

As many of you know, Josh takes a common sleeping medication called Ambien. He has problems sleeping usually about 2 or 3 nights out of the week and this really helps him! Last night I was having back problems to the point of immobilization and josh suggested I take an ambien to help me fall asleep and forget about the pain. Hesitantly, I took one. About an hour later it kicked it; oh boy did it kick in. Here's a little summary of the night in Josh's words.

She was really scared something bad would happen.
-cried like crazy!
Worried that some of different body parts didn't like her.
-cried like crazy!
Kept saying, "I have the snoffles"
Said, "That's a lot of freaking snot"
Said, "Maybe walking will make my back feel better," and attempted to get out bed.
Almost fell out of bed
-cried like crazy!
Sang songs to me
Talked about space ships
Cried out of nowhere
Saw, "birdies, bunnies and caterpillars"
Said, "You're a tomato, and by tomato I mean turtle"
Said, "sex is good 99.9% of the time. There was one time I didn't want to but I did it anyway."
Used at least half a roll of TP on blowing noses, spitting and tears
Needed help going to the bathroom
Bit me!
Made an island out of her stomach
Kept seeing her friends and saying hi
Kept asking who I was!
Thought I was Bozo the clown or Santa
Thought Alyson was in the bed with us.
Kept getting scared when she couldn't remember who I was and would start crying.

Wow, what can I say, I've never reacted very well to any kind of drowsy drugs. Let's just say, I had quite the headache from all the crying when I woke up!

:)

One Year

Yesterday was November 16th, one year since Josh and I met. So in honor of that day, I thought I would give a little background on how it happened.

I got a call from my friend Kelly.

She said I should come over and hang out with her because her brother and his friends we're over playing ping pong.

My first thought was, "Oooh, college boys." And I headed over.

My first impression of Josh was good except that I thought his name was Justin and he was on the phone with another girl for about 30 minutes.

We decided to leave the dorms and do something fun and finally ended up decided on orange rolling.

You drive fast and roll an orange out the window. The orange speeds up and goes faster than the car while quickly becoming thinner and thinner until it explodes.

Then we went to Josh's house and watched Mean Girls.

Kelly forced us to sit next to each other which Josh didn't mind too much.

Since then, we've hung out everyday that we could and it's lead us to great places!!

I love you Joshie!
