my weird mind

I've recently noticed a few things about myself that I was never quite aware of. These are just little things I do that don't really make sense, or are a little weird.

If someone near me sneezes or coughs, I hold my breath for 15 seconds.

If I look down while I'm walking, and remember that there are cracks, I can't step on them. I pace out my steps so I don't hit a crack.

When I walk past someone who is breathing loud, coughing or looks sick, I hold my breath until I feel their wind pass me.

And last, I count stairs. I only count when I go down though, not up. I can tell you how many stairs there are in almost every staircase on campus. Leading up to campus from the west by the RB there are 90 followed by 10 to the JFSB. From south of campus there are 138 on one case. On another there are 77. That particular stair case has 10 then a ramp, then 20, a flat area, 39 and then it splits with 8 each way. Weird, right? I also know that each floor on the JFSB has 40 stairs. Each level differs in how much each of the 4 sets has. The one I use most often has 8, 11, 10, 11. What's weird is, I don't consciously count, it just happens in my mind and then when I get to the bottom I realize there's a number in my head.

So now you probably think I'm crazy...but I bet you could think of a few weird things you do...right?

Cabin Pictures

I mentioned in my cabin post a while back that Valerie had pictures too and I would post them when I got them. Well, I got them so here they are.

Done!

I finished my classes today! Hooray! Now, I just have to survive through finals. It shouldn't be too bad this semester. I have one final online, one take-home (more thought provoking) final, one scheduled for Tuesday and three in the testing center next week.

Then it's a week of work and then ABQ and the beach!! I can't wait!

Welcoming the Holidays

It's official. The house is decorated! I sometimes wish our place was bigger so we could do more with decorations and actually have a real tree. But then I put up the few decorations that we have and just fall in love with all over again. We have a new addition this year, the Willow Tree Nativity. This was a Christmas gift from my mom, as we didn't have any type of nativity scene. Thanks again mom! We love it and I'm sure you'll agree, it looks lovely!

(Oh, and those presents are not actually ours. They are Desiree and Justin's. Desiree's mom gave them to me to give to them when we were in WA over Thanksgivng [post to come about that] and I decided to put them out until they come get them, haha!)

Happy Thanksgiving

We are having a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday in Washington.

It has been exactly what the doctor ordered, some relaxation.
We've had lots of time to read, watch movies and just hang out. It's been so much fun seeing John, Sara and their kids too. We haven't seen them in so long and they are all so big! And of course, little Scarlett.

Yesterday my mom took some pictures of Josh and I outside in the snow. We haven't had any really good photos of Josh and I taken sine last Christmas when Josh's family had a photographer, so we decided to take some. My mom is quite the photographer! :)

I did some editing of course, but I'm really happy with them!
We hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving. We are leaving to head back to Provo on Sunday, and are hoping that the roads are a little clearer on the way back.
(Our 9 hour drive was almost 16 hours on the way here)

If you're interested...

I posted two papers I wrote for my class this semester.

I'm really proud of both of them and would love to hear what you think about the topic!

Crafties

I haven't had a lot of time to work on headbands since my first big hoorah with them.

But this week I've had a little bit of down time so I made a few more.

With the exciting arrival of another niece (and per request from someone back home) I've been all over the little baby girl clips.

The headband is mine!

These are made from silk fabric cut into groups of 3 circles. Then you simply take a lighter/match to the edges to curl it and it makes these adorable flowers! Stick a pearl in the middle to finish it off, and viola!

(I've also made a bunch of girl clips with my previous style of flowers)

Windows!

I posted on facebook a week ago that we were getting new windows (in the same post I may have also mentioned that our upstairs neighbors [who we aren't too fond of] are moving out)!

The windows are fabulous. For those of you who have been in our house, the big one in the living room didn't get replaced but the other three windows did. The windows that were taken out were the original windows from when the house was built in 1905. So, they were only 105 years old. No big deal.

They let in so much cold air and so much noise.

Now we have a much quieter, warmer apartment!

The string from the old pulley system.
And the wheel where the string used to be attached.
(don't mind all the nasty cobwebs...ew!)
And now they look like this! hooray!
Much more...modern. Or maybe just not so ancient.

:)
