I can't believe it's taken me this long to write about Thanksgiving! Geez. We had a great Thanksgiving this year. Josh's twin sisters, Hannah and Chandler, came down from Rexburg for the weekend. Josh worked a ton leading up to Thanksgiving so we didn't see much of him before Thanksgiving day. On Thursday morning I went over to Morgan and Jenn's to watch the Macey's Day Parade with them and the girls. Josh went up to American Fork with Alyson and Nathan to play football with some friends of Alyson's. After that game they came over and we played at the park near Morgan and Jenn's house. It was so fun. This year, we invited our friends to play too. I thought it was great, since we probably won't be able to do the whole family football thing for many more years anyway. So Alyson and Nathan played and so did Jacob and Valerie. Then it was me, Josh, Morgan and Hannah. Jenn stayed home with Kate and Chandler watched Jane, Elliott and Jack at the park. It was fun. My team lost...again. My team lost last year too. But we still had a lot of fun.
Elliott is so adorable!!
Elliott is so adorable!!
After football we headed back to the house to clean up and get dressed. We had put the turkey in with plans to eat around 2pm. The turkey was only supposed to take 4-5 hours. It ended up taking more like 7 hours. At 2, we finally gave up on the turkey and ate everything else. It was kind of a bummer. And I felt especially lame since we were in charge of it this year. Oh well! It worked out okay, because we had second dinner later that night and we ate lots of turkey and stuffing. Dinner was delicious though! We had everything!
After dinner Morgan and Jenn went to the park with their kids and everyone else took naps. It was pretty hilarious. Of course, as soon as Elliott fell asleep, I took advantage of it and slept a little too. It was great. Everyone started waking up after a couple hours and we had second dinner. We wanted to play games or something but not many people seemed interested so we headed home. We were exhausted.
On Friday, Josh worked a half day and then we went, with Hannah and Chandler, up to Park City to do some Black Friday shopping. We also met Alyson and Nathan up there. We spent way more money than we were planning. But I felt okay about it. I had been really wanting some clothes (post-baby) and I got some great stuff for really cheap! Josh got some great stuff too. And of course, we got Elliott a couple things.
On Friday night we went and got Smash Burger with the girls and then headed back to Morgan and Jenn's. That night we played Settlers of Catan. I think it was a little overwhelming for the girls (since we played with two expansions on their first time) but they said they liked it and had fun. It was the longest game of Catan ever! Even I was a little tired of it by the end.
On Saturday we went to Nickel City to play the arcades and do some lazer tag. Jenn and I didn't do lazer tag, but everyone else did and said it was a blast. Nickel City was so fun. Elliott was awake the whole time and she just looked around. It was a lot of loud noises and bright colors to take in and she seemed to enjoy it.
[It cracks me up how terrible Josh and I look in these pictures. It was so hard to smile with those stupid mustaches on. Haha! But, Elliott looks adorable!]
[You have no idea how hard this picture was to take of Jane! Haha]
After Nickel City the girls went to hang out with some friends. After that everyone came to our place to take some pictures before going over to Morgan and Jenn's to watch a movie. We decided to watch Brave. It was so good. We hadn't seen it. We both really enjoyed it! So cute.
And that about sums up our Thanksgiving weekend! It was a lot of fun! And it's always good to see Hannah and Chandler!
