I have quite a bit to write about Christmas. So it will be broken up into multiple posts. We had such a wonderful Christmas break. We wrapped up finals on the 17th then Josh and I worked until Tuesday. We left Provo early, early Wednesday morning. We flew from SLC to Albuquerque, NM. My brother Joe and his wife live there with their four kids. So we spent Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with them before heading to SC on Saturday (Christmas) morning. Growing up, we always celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve so we did all our celebrating with my family on the 24th and got to do celebrating with Josh's family on the 25th. We had a such a good time in ABQ. Our first stop upon leaving the airport...Waffle House. Yes, a Waffle House, in ABQ. Ridiculous, right? Well, what's even more ridiculous was that the workers in the ABQ location were just as ghetto as they are in the south. Josh and I always joke that there is a strict criteria for working at Waffle House. You must be a smoker, have a southern accent and you must, must be missing teeth. And our server in ABQ fit the criteria perfectly.
We spent our few days relaxing and getting a feel for the ABQ life. ABQ is a really beautiful city. OldTown was built in the 1700's. We spent one night walking around OldTown and going in all the fun little shops. We bought an adorable little ornament of a hot air balloon. ABQ is famous for their Balloon Fiesta. I also bought myself some moccasins from a fun little store in OldTown. I have been wanting some for a long time, so I finally got some. They are adorable!
We spent Christmas eve opening gifts and eating food. The way Christmas should be spent. We had a delicious spiral ham with pineapple, potatoes, veggies, rolls, etc. We also made every sweet imaginable; fudge, sugar cookies, gingersnaps, etc. I was expecting to gain more weight than I did on this trip.
Here are a few pictures of the Christmas festivities at the Spencer house.
Thank you Joe and Karen for all the chocolate! We are still enjoying it, and probably will be for a long time! :)
And thank you mom for everything you got us! We love our scarves and our adorable 2010 ornament.
