Towards the middle of this summer, Josh and I started getting distinct feelings that it was time for us to move on from Utah. We still don't completely understand why, but we have some ideas. As the feelings got stronger, we decided to make some classic pro-con lists. While our con list had some very important things (being somewhat close to my mom, leaving our best friends, leaving the gorgeous mountains and the place that we call home), our pro list was much, much longer. We decided that it was time to make this giant leap! Next was figuring out the logistics. Technically, Josh didn't have a job in SC. Sounds insane right? Why would you leave when you have a job? I'm telling you, the feelings were strong! And I'm glad we followed through, because in a matter of weeks, Josh interviewed with Panda Express in South Carolina and landed a GM position at a store just a couple miles from his parent's house. So we did it. We started packing up our place with plans to finish out the quarter with his current store and move in the beginning of September.
During the decision process, we felt like our prayers were answered when Josh's boss moved him from his store in Saratoga Springs (already 25 minutes from our houe) to a store in SLC (50 minutes from our house). The commute was terrible. And when you are already working 60-70 hours a week, it does not help tacking on 10 extra hours of driving time! It seemed like more confirmation that we were making the right choice. There was no way we could stay in Provo with a commute like that.
Josh's sister Kendal then approached us with the idea to move in with them in SLC (3 miles from his store that he was transferred to unexpectedly) for our last month in Utah. They were headed to work for her parents in SC for 3 weeks and they needed a house/dog sitter and it would save us a month's rent and a ton of gas money. So we took their offer and moved up to SLC. It was such a strange transition, but we appreciated their willingness to let us do it. Moving twice was definitely awful. Moving in general is terrible. But we managed to keep most everything packed so the second move wasn't as bad.
We got word in the middle of August that they wanted Josh out in SC sooner. So the dates got pushed up a week and before we knew it, we were driving across the country towards South Carolina.
This whole transition has been crazy. We are so thankful Josh was able to transfer with Panda and continue our income through the transition. We are so thankful to have made it safely across the country. We are so thankful for Josh's parents who are allowing us to bunk with them while we figure this next stage out. We are so thankful that we were led here. And while we still aren't completely sure where we go from here, we are loving it all the while!
I love when you blog! Keep it up!:)
