Easter Weekend Beginnings

Laurie, Bronson and the girls headed to Rexburg on Thursday and got back (without the girls) on Friday evening just before they went to bed. Josh and I babysat Jane and Kate that night while Jenn and Morgan went to a work dinner and Laurie and Bronson got back from Rexburg just in time to see the girls before they hit the sack.

Saturday began our Easter celebrations. We started the morning off right with a brunch reservation at Communal (an amazing local restaurant). I got the biscuits and gravy, which is probably the only thing I will ever order from there because of how good they are. Seriously, the best. Ever. After brunch we went over the Morgan and Jenn’s to dye easter eggs with the girls. Jenn had bought all the stuff and boiled all the eggs that morning (THANKS JENN!). Elliott was hesitant at first, but she got into it after a little bit. Between the three girls, they dyed three dozen eggs! After dying eggs we went to the BYU football stadium for a free easter egg hunt. I will not be doing that again, but it was definitely worth the experience once. There were probably 1,000 children there (plus all the adults) and the field was just full of eggs. But the poor little kids just got trampled and ended up with hardly anything! Not kidding, the entire thing lasted about 15 seconds. The field was swept clean SO FAST. It was insane. The girls had more fun afterwards just playing with the couple eggs they got and running around on the field.

Sponging away!
Proud of her egg!

After the hunt it was time for naps. Josh was at the Rec Center with his dad and Morgan so I took Elliott to Morgan and Jenn’s to have her nap there. Big mistake. She goes down for bed great at other people’s houses, but naps are another story. She played upstairs for about an hour before we heard her and realized she wasn’t sleeping. So I took her on a quick drive to knock her out, but we couldn’t keep her asleep. Oh well!

That night we had plans to go the giant Provo Spring Festival at Rock Canyon Park. It looked so fun! They had some of the local food trucks there for dinner, they had tons of fun booths, a giant parachute, orbs to roll down the hill in, pony rides, puppies to play with and so much more. When we got there we scouted out a spot for the movie which would be after sunset. We had a great spot with a ton of blankets. Then we got some dinner. Elliott ate a corn dog (which is amazing by the way), and Josh and I had sliders from Marley’s. They had burritos, burgers, shaved ice and a ton more. It smelled so good. After we all ate, we walked around and looked at everything. Laurie was gracious enough to stand in line for the ponies, since it was so long. The girls loved riding the ponies and Elliott and Kate were so mad when they had to get off. So cute. But my favorite part was definitely the puppies. They let people just pass them around and play with them. The girls took turns holding them and loving on them. So sweet. The girls also loved the parachute. So many memories from being a kid. They would raise it up really high and climb inside and run around. Love it. All the booths started shutting down around 8, so we headed to our blankets, got the kids in more comfortable, warmer clothes and we all hunkered down. They had a giant blowup screen and they showed Frozen once it got really dark. Since Elliott didn’t nap that day, I expected her to conk out really fast. Surprise, surprise, she watched all but the last 10 minutes of the movie. Which had her falling asleep at like 10:30. Ridiculous. But, at least she was happy. She was climbing all over us and squealing with excitement through the whole thing. Adorable. I love that girl of ours.

So sweet! Notice Elliott trying to sneak a pet with her arm on the right. Ha!
