SC TRIP - Easter Weekend in VA

On Saturday morning, we got up and ripped the children from the clutches of the grandparents and hit the road to VA. It's about a five hour drive. The girls did pretty well. I think Piper only cried for about 15 or 20 minutes of this drive. Can't complain.

It was conference weekend while we were there, so we kept things pretty low-key. I love it that way though. On Saturday, we caught up, watched conference, ate dinner and then decorated sugar cookies. Yum! They were delicious and turned out so cute.

I think Elliott spent more time eating frosting and sprinkles than she did decorating.

Then she leaned over to grab some sprinkles and got her shirt all covered in frosting! haha

Whoops!

Piper just chilled in her bumbo.

Love them all so much!

Sunday was Easter! The Easter bunny left baskets for the kids. So they opened their baskets and we spent the morning just enjoying some candy and chocolate. And conference of course. Josh and Mark put a big roast butt in the smoker for dinner as well. Between sessions of conference we sent the kids outside to find Easter eggs. Then I took some sweet pictures of my girls.

Searching for eggs.

Love these cuties.

Spencer and Piper.

Taylor with Piper and Elliott.

Elliott just randomly reached out and put her arm around Spencer. So cute.

Happy Easter!
Easter dinner was so delicious! We had the pork butt and we also had a big ham! Then we had funeral potatoes and asparagus too. Yum! So delicious.

For dessert, my sister made these adorable jello rainbow cups. So fun! And surprisingly yummy. The creamy layers had sour cream in them, which was really good!

Easter evening my sister and I went for a walk with the kids. Elliott must have been pretty tired because after about halfway, she wanted to be held and passed out in my arms. Talk about a workout. Phew! Exhausting.

How on earth did she sleep like this?

On Monday morning we decided to get up and go to Maymont. It's a huge park in Richmond that's free and has all kinds of animals to see. Elliott loved it. But also wanted to be carried a lot. Haha. It's quite a bit of walking. :) We had a great time though.

After Maymont we met Mark for lunch at this yummy Italian restaurant. After lunch, we headed back to the house to pack up. But we mostly just played outside, putting off leaving. I did not want to leave. Saying goodbye is the worst. At least this time, we knew when we would see each other again. That always makes it easier. I love seeing my sister and her family. I can't wait until we can live closer and see more of each other!

Impromptu selfie!
