It's been a year since we have gone to Valerie's cabin so were definitely due for a weekend down there. And it was a great one. We left on Friday afternoon and got there around 5pm. Before we hit the road we picked up a pie for Josh's birthday from The Choc'late Mousse: A Pie Bar in Provo (it's new). We got a red velvet pie. Yes, pie. Amazing, right? It was. Friday night we ate dinner which was roasted corn and poblano soup from Kneaders in bread bowls. AH-mazing. Seriously my favorite soup ever. If you live anywhere near a Kneaders go on Wednesday or Saturday and try it.
After dinner we put the kiddos to bed and played games. Jacob brought some amazing games. Saturday was Josh's birthday. He slept in (that was the main thing he wanted) and then woke up for breakfast (amazing egg and bacon sandwiches by Morgan and Jenn). After breakfast we rode the four wheelers down on the main road for a couple hours. It was a blast. Elliott rode around with Josh and she loved it. Jack on the other hand, screamed his head off. It was sad, but it was also really adorable.
After four wheeling we headed back for lunch (french dips, a classic) and then the babies napped while we played games, again! Josh got to pick the games on his birthday. Cosmic Encounter was at the top of his list. A great game! When the babies woke up, all the guys napped and us girls went on a short walk with the kids. The didn't last long because of all the hills, but it was still a lot of fun. The weather was amazing all weekend.
Valerie and Jacob made dinner Saturday night. It was delicious breaded chicken! Yum. The kids went to bed and we played this spooky game with all the lights off. It was so fun. You are discovering a haunted mansion and then someone turns on everyone and becomes the bad guy. It was so fun. Josh opened presents, we ate pie, and the Gamecocks won in second overtime. It was a great day.
Sunday morning we ate breakfast, cleaned the house, packed up, let the kids nap, played games and then headed home. Elliott slept so terrible the second night so Josh and I were pretty grumpy that day. We were up over half the night with her. Blah. But overall, it was a great weekend! Thanks for inviting us Jacob and Valerie! We always have a blast.
Picking up the pie. Just before she ate a bug off the floor. :)
