Yep, you guessed it. Food. We were famished. We had decided not to eat at all before we boarded. What was the point in paying for food right before we boarded a ship full of free food?! As you can see, the food was amazing. This was our first meal. Valerie and I basically lived at the Mongolian bar. It was fabulous. I love Mongolian so I was in heaven. They had it for lunch everyday. Yeeesssss.
After lunch we headed to our rooms. By that point our luggage had been delivered to our rooms and so we spent some time unpacking. The next stop? The pool. We headed up to the top to see the pool/take a very small dip (the water was freezing). Since I had never been a cruise before I wanted to be up top when we took off. Talk about a let down. It moved so slow out of the port. Ha! But that's alright. It was fun waving to...the port...Bon Voyage!
Once the ship got turned around and away from the dock we started picking up speed. Now, I get seasick/carsick/planesick/dizzy very easy. I took bonine (dramamine) everyday. It definitely helped, but I still felt the boat. It took over 48 hours after we'd been off the cruise to stop feeling like I was always moving. Blah. But, as long as we stayed up on the top in the fresh air I was fine. Before the cruise I bought the Olympus tough camera which is waterproof and so we had a lot of fun taking pictures with it.

We literally ate breakfast, first lunch, lunch, first dinner, dinner and late night snacks everyday. It was amazing. We also averaged about 5 ice cream cones per person per day. Ridiculous? Probably. Amazing? Yes!
The very first day we laid out in the sun for way too long. Luckily, I was pretty careful about my sunscreen because of bad experiences from our honeymoon. I got sunburned so bad and could barely move, not to mention all the throwing up from the burns. So, I was really good about mine all week. Josh on the other hand was not. He didn't put any sunscreen on that first night and boy did he burn. It's hard to tell in some of the pictures, but you can definitely tell. Poor boy.
We ate dinner in the Mardi Gras dining room. We had the best waitress. Her name was Gama and she was from Indonesia. She was so funny and sweet. We loved her! Dinner was always amazing. My only complaint...they wouldn't really change things. Everything seemed to be pre-made or premixed so I couldn't have things taken out. Bummer. But that's just annoying to me because I'm a picky eater. But, everything was so good.
Earlier that day we had found a place called the Serenity lounge (aka the back of the ship). It was an adults only section, had the comfiest chairs and had two hot tubs. It was also a no smoking area which was nice. We decided to hit the hot tubs that night. Jacob brought his horse mask and well....we had fun.
While in the hot tub we also had a competition to see which husband could fit the most of the their wife's foot in their mouth...i'm not sure what we were thinking...
[i think josh won]
The first day consisted of a lot of walking around trying to familiarize ourselves with the boat. After the hot tub I think we all just went to bed.

your cruise looks fabulous, i love them so much!
ReplyDeletejust for future reference, i found these wristbands that work miracles with seasickness. i didn't even have to take drugs when i used them on the boat, and i always get supppper sick. they're hideous, but work awesomely.
