On Friday morning the weather was supposed to be just gorgeous. And with not many gorgeous days like this left in the forecast for the year, I just had to visit the zoo. It's still great in the winter, but the animals aren't always out and active when it's cold. So just the girls and I went. It was so fun and I'm so glad we did it.
We saw every single animal. And not just saw them. They were out and active! The only animal that wasn't active was the gorilla who was napping in front of the glass. The howlers were swinging and howling like crazy! Even the lions were roaring and pacing. It was awesome.
We went in the bird room and fed the birds some nectar. Elliott liked it at first but one birds claw scratched her and she was done after that. They were landing all over my arms and head while I held Piper. It was a crack up. And every time they squawked close to us, Piper jumped. But she never cried. I loved it.
We fed the giraffes too. They're my favorite. We fed them a couple bunches of lettuce. Elliott liked them a lot. Piper loved them until (warning: mom fail ahead) I let her feed one some lettuce at the same time I tried to take a selfie of us. She had the lettuce in a tight fist and the giraffe put her whole little fist in its mouth and bit down. Poor baby. It didn't break skin, but there were definite bite marks. Sorry Piper!
We had such a fun morning at the zoo. We spent about three hours there then headed off to grab lunch and get ready for our evening at the fair!
