Independence Day

Our festivities this year were a little bit spread out.

Fourth of July started for us on Saturday. Saturday Josh and I both worked (the closing shift) at Kneaders. Saturday was also the Stadium of Fire. We were completely short-handed at work because we assumed it would be dead because everyone would be at the stadium for the show but it wasn't dead. It was the opposite of dead. We had a 61 transaction hour between Josh and I and one sandwich maker. It was ridiculous. But, we survived. Right around closing time (10pm) the stadium fireworks started going off. Josh just wanted to get out of there so he kept on working but I clocked out, ran outside and watched the show from the grass at Kneaders. It was great. I love fireworks.

Earlier in the week we went to our friend's firework tent. One of Josh's friends from working at the Marriott and now at Kneaders was running a firework stand with his wife so we went and bought fireworks from them. They really hooked us up! IT was awesome. So, typically aerial fireworks are illegal in Utah but this year the laws changed. Aerial fireworks are now legal. So, we loaded up.

On Sunday we had a BBQ with some friends. There weren't as many people there as we had hoped, but it was still a lot of fun. It was Josh, me, Stuart, Kaylee, and Jacob. Valerie was working which was super sad. Josh made these amazing burgers with a rosemary foccocia bun. They were absolutely delectable. So we ate, put our feet in a kiddy pool, raced Jacob's RC car, played Mario Kart and shot off fireworks. Josh and I only bought aerials but Stuart bought a big pack of normal fountain fireworks so we had plenty to see.

We shot of fireworks for a good hour. Kaylee and I got eaten alive by mosquitoes that night. It was awful. We finally resorted to laying on a blanket and hid everything but our eyes under another blanket. They were pesty that night.

A short video of our amazing fireworks. I took this laying on my back in the grass....the fireworks were directly above our heads...hence the reason you hear us yelling about stuff falling on our faces.

[yuck]

On Sunday we had Joe, Karen and the kids over for another little BBQ. Josh made this amazing lemon honey chicken that we put on kabobs. It was so good (even the kids loved it). After we ate we went outside and let the kids do snap-its and sparklers. They loved it. Then Josh and Joe played in the yard with the kids. They played keep away (monkey in the middle) and catch. They were so cute.

All in all we had a fabulous holiday! Hope everyone had a great fourth!
